The project is not actually in action yet - it is the beginning of the season and everyone is in frenetic preparation mode. I came early to help with the meeting of the Cape Verde Sea Turtle Network, but that meeting has since been postponed. I also wanted to help set up the beach camps for the volunteers, but the equipment is all in cargo containers that haven't arrived yet. Still there is plenty to do - we posted fliers in the villages to invite the locals to come to a meeting tomorrow night about the project. Of course, this is our 3rd season here, so they know all about us and the project, but we are hoping to recruit some locals and increase community interest and involvement. Soon we will do a tour of the nesting beaches to see if turtles are arriving yet, and if any have been killed. I will try to post some photos, and will send more info soon.
