The first beach clean-up for the season was organized in Boa Esperança beach on May 30th, in a collaboration between Turtle Foundation, local tour operators, hotels, guides, local people and many tourists.

In what was a very
successful
event, at least 200 bags were
collected, equivalent to 3 trucks loaded with trash removed from the Cabo de Sta Maria area. Sadly, the trash removed was the one that was collected July last year and was left on the beach after broken promises from the Camara Municipal da Boavista to collect it. So pretty much double work :(

With hopes that next beach clean-up campaigns are fully backed by government bodies, not just public initiatives, we will for sure organize many more of these campaigns, especially in this beach, which we aim to be trash-free by the end of the season!
