Chinese captain of turtle boat sentenced to 4 years in prison.

The court case about the Chinese ship stopped in Kalimantan in May 2007 with nearly 400 dead sea turtles aboard was closed.

 

The captain was sentenced to 4 years in prison. The ship was seized and the dead sea turtles were burned. The crew was sent home soon after their arrest. Apparently they simply executed their captain's orders not being aware of the fact that sea turtles were endandered and protected species.
