My Time as a Turtle Foundation Volunteer in Boavista
TEJA MUHA from Slovenia, 2009 Volunteer in Boavista
"Volunteering
in Cape Verdian islands and work with turtles was for me the first eye
to eye look with the African culture and most important, a new
opportunity to work with an incredible creature which exists on this
planet for much longer than us ... "

Ein Volontariat bei der Turtle Foundation - der etwas andere Strandurlaub
Astrid Mittelstaedt, Deutschland, freiwillige Mitarbeiterin 2009
"Ich liege mitten in der Nacht am Strand im weißen, warmen Sand, irgendwo auf dieser faszinierenden Insel Boavista, mit ihrer unglaublichen Landschaft, die anders ist als alles, was ich zuvor gesehen habe. Ich schaue Richtung Meer, wo die Wellen unaufhörlich rauschen, betrachte den üppigen Sternenhimmel und bin zufrieden. Neben mir nistet eine unechte Karettschildkröte, Caretta caretta, der Grund warum ich hier bin.

My 2 Months with Team Cabo Verde
JAMES BARNES from the UK, 2009 Volunteer in Boavista
"At
the end of May this year when my degree course was complete, I had a
choice to make; stay in my comfy-but-boring office job, or do something
out of the ordinary..."

My View of Boavista and the Turtle Foundation
Martin Sansone from England, volunteer 2009
"If you want to do something crazy, if you want to get inspired about living – then do yourself a huge favour and make 2010 the best year so far for volunteering on Boa Vista with the Turtle Foundation. It will take some doing, because the volunteer team members of 2009 spanned from 18 years to 45 years old and were truly awesome from so many different backgrounds. Believe me, you will be doing yourself a favour ;-)"

Andre Candelaria, Portugal, volunteer in Boavista
"
I was a volunteer in this great project and it was really good. It was really inspiring to work in such a passionate group, and it was good to know that some progress has occurred due to Turtle Foundation. In fact much less turtles are being killed!
However, it's really important that the work grows and develops, so I suggest anyone who reads this to think about becoming a volunteer this or next year. Many things still need to be made. It's an experience you won't forget and the work is really rewarding to yourself and to the planet. Turtle Foundation makes an amazing job in trying to avoid the sea turtle's extinction. Hopefully one day everybody in Cape Verde will work together on this mission. Take care!"
